What is the minimum load in watts for a 300 watt 120 volt to 12 volt 300 watt underground transformer to operate safely? We have always loaded the transformers to one third of capacity (300 watts = at least a 100 watt load)

Let us know!

Semper Fi's Magnetic transformers do not have a minimum load requirement.

If it's a multi-tapped transformer, you may need to adjust the taps if the loads are on boost taps.  The standard transformer is an unregulated device, therefore input voltage and load will impact output voltage.

Electronics typically have very defined parameters with minimum load requirements to operate as designed.

For future reference, our Power Modules regulate and correct for these changes automatically without you having to do anything (AFTER Being Installed).

We also Make Constant Current Drivers that are designed to operate off of Low Voltage AC/DC.
